Barack Obama Makes Billboard Hot R&B Songs Chart

After much debate online, it seems the real king of R&B has revealed himself to be Barack Obama.

Billboard recently announced that the former president had landed on the Hot R&B Songs chart for the week of Jan. 5 after "One Last Time (44 Remix)" — which features a spoken word segment by Obama, who recites George Washington's farewell address — made its way to the 22nd spot.

Released shortly before the holidays, the song by Christopher Jackson and BeBe Winans is a slowed-down, gospel-inspired rendition of the Hamilton song of the same name. In 2009, Obama actually invited Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda to perform at a White House poetry jam. At the time, Miranda disclosed that he was working on the musical and even performed a version of what would go on to be the opening number. Obama would later attend Hamilton in 2015, the year it debuted on Broadway.

The internet was of course delighted by the news that Obama had landed on the Billboard charts, becoming the first president to do so, by the way. Listen to the song ahead and read a few stunned reactions from people who think the news is an excellent way to start the new year.
